Awesome saw for the money. I have over 20 acres of woods. We burn a lot in the fire pit at the cabin. Just got this saw this fall after my Poulan finally died. This Remington goes through the wood 10 times faster. Is heavy but less work to cut. Highly recommend.

I was afraid to buy this because the price is so much cheaper than anything else with it's power. I have run the heck out of this and wow is all I can say. I'm cutting huge amounts of wood with no problem at all. I've used it so much I bought 2 extra chains. I can't recommend this saw enough. If you were worried why it's so less than any other saw with it's power, don't be, buy it you'll be happy you did!

This saw Cuts and Runs great. The 51cc engine has a lot of power, and the engine also idles without stopping if you have to set the saw on the ground. The rope pull engine starter is well designed, the starting instructions are clearly printed on the saw itself. And the price is right.

I bought this to replace a 14in Echo chainsaw that died at the begining of a project to cut down four trees. After much research and reading I went with this unit, the fact that it was made by MTD did not scare me at all, I have a lawn mower made by them that is eight years old and runs like a charm. Onto this saw, I unpacked it and fueled and added oil, followed directions, did not start on the first attempt. The second attempt was successful. I cut thru trees that the Echo would have a hard time, this saw buzzed through them in no time. I cut three trees and cut them up, no issues at all. As for the reviewer who complained about oil seepage....read the instructions, they say quite clearly that there will be seepage. No need for a negative review.

Generally I like things that are heavy. They give a feeling of quality and this saw is rugged I will give it that. But cutting firewood for a few hours straight may prove to be a challenge on ones back with the weight of this saw. It starts very easy but the recoil starter has a strange feel to it. Like it spring loads while pulling on the rope and then when near the end turns the motor over. So a faster pull will not yield a faster turning of the crank. It takes some getting used to the feel of it, but it works. I just hope the spring holds up. The motor is powerful and does not hold back when given throttle like some units I have used. So i know it has good breathing from the carburetor through the exhaust, yet it is still relatively quiet running which is a plus to my ears. All in all I am very happy with the saw. I believe it is a good investment and will last for years if properly cared for.
